Hooks — pattern, size and point
The hook is the heart of terminal tackle — it’s what sets in the fish. Shank, gape, wire gauge and point vary by method, so the catalogue is split into carp, feeder and method, float and spinning hooks.
What to check on the card
Size (higher number = smaller hook in European sizing), eyed or spade end, wire thickness and barbed or barbless. Fine wire suits live baits and wary fish; heavy wire suits power fishing and big carp. Barbless hooks are kinder and required on many day-ticket waters.
